ISP FALLEN IN THE LINE OF DUTY

RECENTLY departed LODGE MEMBERS

02/22/10  Sue Voges #3335

Passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.  Sue was a District 10 Sergeant and Trustee.  She began a 25-year career with the Illinois State Police in 1985 and retired on Jan. 31, 2010. During her career, she was promoted to sergeant in 1990 and transferred from patrol to Zone 5 Investigations in 1999. She was extremely honored to be a part of the Illinois State Police and cherished the friends she had made throughout the entire law enforcement community.

She was a trustee for the Fraternal Order of Police, Troopers Lodge 41. As a trustee, she was responsible for employee/management relations and contractual issues.

Everyone remembers her tireless efforts to promote breast cancer awareness. She was diagnosed in 1999 and for almost 11 years continued the battle while at the same time never letting the disease take her caring spirit. She was the compassionate voice and a loved role model for many people suffering from the disease. Her positive, life loving attitude gave strength to others who were battling cancer.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Carle Development Foundation, 611 W. Park, Urbana, IL 61801. Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. St. Joseph in charge of arrangements.
